We’re so excited that our “Bright And Lively” fall inspiration shoot, shot by Tara Leigh, is featured on Grey Likes Weddings today! We wanted to design a shoot that was inspired by some of the Fall fashions trends. You’ll notice the brights that we all loved last spring carrying over into fall in heavier fabrics, an array of vintage herringbone jackets on the guys and one of my favorites: the look of gold exposed zippers we’ve been seeing on tops and dresses translated into the wrapping of the boutonnieres and bouquets as well as the napkins on the tables.
I created a cake stand from a vintage plant stand and a vintage platter which was bright and complimentary to the fun pop from the fuchsia chocolate ganache cake (which was also AMAZINGLY delicious post shoot!!)
I also created a unique seating chart by taking a vintage silverware storage box and lining it with pretty paper and adding fun glitzy vintage letters I picked up from an ephemera shop that I knew would be perfect for a seating chart. I hand stamped each tag for the guests names using a vintage stamp set.
I also used the entertaining ”Fortune Telling Birthday Book” as the guest book so that not only would the guests get a little ”fortune” when they signed the guest book, but the couple would have their guests’ birthdays as part of their keepsake as well.
My design for the paper products were inspired by our palate, modern and simple but with pops of color and sparkling gold. In the rest of our designs we used bright and fun mustards, pinks and corals, blues, with pops of gold.
I wanted to design this fall inspiration shoot in a colorful and playful palate, showing that if you do have a fall wedding your colors don’t have to be only Halloween or typical “harvest” inspired. Summer weddings don’t have to have all the fun! With a fall wedding you can still have bright colors and bright days that are perfect for photos and for creating a lighter atmosphere than some of the darker themed affairs.
We created the menu to be reflective of the color palate, but also to be the one element that could be a little more “heavy” and feeling of typical fall. The menu featured feta cheese and caramelized onion pastry puffs for the fall comfort food element with a pop of color from the bed of savoy cabbage it rested upon. The entree was a filet mignon steak with seasonal pomegranate noir sauce and colorful roasted potatoes and balsamic glazed onions with bright green beans.
Candied apples and pomegranate prosecco drinks were the icing on the cake.
The pheasant feathers in the brides bouquet and the grooms boutonniere reflect the patterns in the herringbone jackets and are wrapped with vintage gold zippers.
We hope you like it and can’t wait to show you what we’re working on next. Make sure to pop on over to Grey Likes Weddings to see our write-up!
