Cake pops: love or hate?

Since the predicted death of cupcakes should be coming any day now, I wonder: are cake pops going to be the replacement? It’s hard to say, their death may be immanent now too, afterall, Starbucks is selling them…

They are awfully pretty though, aren’t they? I’m personally more attracted to the simpler designs for weddings.

So, what do you think, do you like them? I have to say I was a little hesitant at first, but I had some of the moistest red velvet cake (pops) at an event and they were delicious! The pros of cake pops are that they’re really easy to eat for both kids and adults, they’re not messy at all and can be presented really beautifully. If these aren’t the new cupcakes, let’s think, what dessert hasn’t had its wedding day debut yet?

Okay, I’m calling it. Pineapple upside down cake will be HUGE in one to three years…in mini form of course!

    Great post!

I agree, cake pops seem so beautiful and easy to pass – perfect for a wedding! However tasty they are though, I am pretty grossed out that they are made by smushing cake crumbs into a ball. Seems like an awful lot of hand involvement in your dessert!

Agree! I’m curious how the cake pop makers (think waffle iron for cake pops) works. Less hand contact and you can make doughnut holes with it too!
